René Victor De Man arrived from Brussels - Ixelles in August 1875 and was recorded as a photographer. Crosset was recorded as a photographer domiciled in Hodimont-lez-Verviers. They signed a partnership agreement on 21.8.1875 "to exploit photography and to trade in paintings and art". Crosset provided the working capital for constructing and fitting out their studio and De Man contributed his know-how and studio apparatus, including a full-plate camera. The partnership lasted three years. Auguste Crosset was appointed director of the "Théâtre de Verviers" for one year in 1878 and then abandoned photography until 1891. In 1880, he was registered as a commercial traveller. Between 1884 and 1891, he lived in Arc-les-Gray [Haute-Saône, F].
