Jean Joseph Léon, ° 26.7.1855; + 31.12.1935. Sometimes spelled "De Baecker". Operated in Lille [F], Rue Saint-Gabriel, 35 in 1889. Arrived from Tournai on 2.9.1896. Left for Roeselare on 1.6.1898. He should not be confused with Joannes Egidius Cornelius De Backer (° Antwerp, 1844), recorded as a servant and photographer's assistant living in Keizerstraat, 23/2 in the 1890 Antwerp population register. This latter De Backer appeared in notarial acts in Eekeren in 1890 ("Jan Egide De Backer") and in 1891 ("Jan Corneel De Backer"), on both occasions described as a photographer in Antwerp.

Initially a branch of the Bruges studio. "De Backer, K." in 1904.

Co-existed with the Bruges studio.
