Joseph François, ° 17.9.1875; + 15.10.1950. Industrialist and furniture manufacturer. Founded the firm "De Coene Frères" in 1905 that expanded in the interwar years. A committed painter, mainly of landscapes and still lifes; several of his artworks, including a self portrait, are held in the Broelmuseum in Courtrai. Brother-in-law of Arthur Deleu (see that name). Still a member of the ABP in 1922.
