° 29.9.1861; + 9.1.1920. Headmaster of the state secondary school in Ypres. De Deyne gave his first public slide shows in 1886 and used slides as an educational tool in his science lessons. He founded the "Société pour la Propagation de l'Enseignement Scientifique par les Projections Photographiques Lumineuses" in 1891. Author of "L'enseignement scientifique par les projections lumineuses", Ypres, 1893 and of "La lanterne lumineuse à l'école. Propagation de l'enseignement scientifique par les projections lumineuses", Brussels, J. Lebègue, 1897. Views of Bruges in 1895. Joint founder of the "Société yproise de Photographie" in 1896. A guidebook to Ypres illustrated in halftone from De Deyne's negatives was published in 1897. Twenty of his views (Ghent, Bruges, etc.) were incorporated into a set of slides on Belgium tailor-made for illustrated lectures and published by the "Ligue française de l'Enseignement", 1897.

He became headmaster of the secondary school in Menen in 1910. De Deyne must have preserved his links to Ypres, since the Flanders Fields Museum there holds an album of 37 photographs "Ypres ruines (1919)" signed by him.
