We have been unable to ascertain whether he was an employee or acquired the business. In their declaration of divorce dated 25.9.1886, De Kuyper was recorded as having no profession, whereas his wife Marie Amélie Detige (° Hombourg, 28.5.1843) was recorded as a photographer, aged 43. They were both residing at Rue de l'Ecuyer, 27. Detige had previously resided at Rue Neuve, 23 from 29.10.1878 until shortly before her wedding to De Kuyper in April 1881, overlapping at that address with the studio run by Guillaume then Jean Günther. Her profession was recorded as a bookkeeper there.
