° 3.12.1847; + 15.5.1918. Senior District Commissioner; lieutenant-colonel in the infantry. Topographer charged with mapping the Lower Congo. Completed the foundation of Luluabourg. From his stay in the Congo - from 1885 until 1888 - he brought back numerous negatives of the regions he had explored, some of which would be copied in platinum by Alexandre and exhibited by the "Compagnie du Congo pour le Commerce et l'Industrie" in Brussels in 1890.
