Philibert Marie also known as Albert, ° 9.5.1853; + 24.4.1927. Longtime employee and typographer with Daveluy, where he learned photography. Recorded as a photographer living in Bruges at his wedding there on 29.10.1875, as a lithographer there in December 1879 and again as a photographer at the birth of his sons in 1878 and 1882. CV with ink-stamp, forename Albert "portrait maker" at this address.

By this time Philibert aka Albert had left Daveluy's employ and set up independently at this address. Temporarily left Bruges in 1898 to work in Brussels as an operator at R. Beyer's studio in Place Sainte-Gudule. Afterwards he worked as a commercial traveller. Philibert / Albert sold Singer sewing machines and offered photographs as a free gift. He returned to operate at this address, which was also the family home, by 31.12.1900. Member of the "Cercle photographique de Bruges" in 1906.

Two of Philibert / Albert's seven son's followed in his footsteps: Arthur Joseph Edouard (° Bruges, 6.11.1878; + Bruges, 26.11.1954) and Evariste Camille Alfred (° Bruges, 29.8.1882; + Ostend, 6.5.1978). Arthur started his career as an apprentice with Henri Becker in Brussels - Molenbeek and Antwerp before resettling in Bruges in 1900. He was then recorded as a photographer in Bruges at his wedding there on 26.11.1902. In the directories from 1904, "De Souter & Fils/& Zoon"; in 1906, "& Fils/& Zonen". Philibert / Albert operated the family's photography business in collaboration with Evariste and Arthur until his retirement in 1920. Arthur continued to operate in Mariastraat (corner Pijperstraatje) until at least 1952, earning the title of doyen of Bruges photographers. Evariste left Bruges and operated in Ostend, Groentenmarkt, 7 in 1921.
