Quirin Urbain, ° 10.7.1886; + 11.10.1957. Husband of Clementine Marie Vandeleene (° Courtrai, 9.2.1887). Arrived at this address from Courtrai on 27.7.1908. Recorded as a "portrait maker" here at the birth of a daughter in August 1909 and still operating here as a "photographic printer" in June 1914. On mounts "C. De Souter" or "C. De Souter - Vandeleene / near the Park". He signed "Coirin" or with the initial "C". Son of a certain Charles Louis De Souter, a labourer and native of Bruges, so there is no direct family link with Philibert / Albert De Souter and sons also operating during the same period in Bruges. This is further supported by an announcement by De Souter & Sons in October 1909 that stated that they had nothing in common with the studio bearing the same name as theirs (Brugsch Handelsblad, 19.10.1909). De Souter moved his business to Quai du Rosaire, 4 about 1914 and was active at that address until 1924.
