Jean Guillaume, ° 10.11.1847; + November 1925. Originally a bookseller at this address, Dechenne branched out into selling cameras and general supplies for photography. He advertised hand-held cameras for amateurs in 1894, 1895 and 1903. "& Cie" in 1896. Also listed as a supplier of picture postcards in the "Annuaire Berry" for 1904 (published in 1903). Subsequently Dechenne founded a successful firm "Messagerie de la Presse", commonly known as "Agence Dechenne", for newspaper distribution and sales, of which he was still a director at the time of his death. "Agence Dechenne", operating in Rue du Persil, also traded in "heating and lighting equipment, cameras, binoculars, etc" (Journal de Bruxelles, 28.3.1920).
