Previously a tradesman in Antwerp, then recorded as a photographer living in Brussels in October 1906 and again in April 1907 but a shopkeeper at his elder son Guillaume's wedding in Antwerp on 14.8.1909. Recorded as domiciled at this address on the occasion of his younger son Fernand's wedding in Brussels - Schaerbeek on 28.3.1908. "Deck - Van Abbeel" on CVs, combining his father's and mother's surnames. "Deck - Van Abbeele" in directory until 1911, sometimes with initial "C", then simply "Deck". Subsequently owned seven branch studios in Belgium.
