Louis Albert, ° 12.7.1809; + 3.5.1885. In 1847, the police - to whom he stated that he lived in the Passage Saint-Hubert, Galerie de la Reine, 20 - registered him as a musician. Subsequently he lived in Rue Philomène until 1864, where he was still a musician. He arrived at this address on 31.5.1866. "The vast studios of "Photographie Parisienne" are placed in such lighting conditions that children's portraits are executed with great speed and ladies' portraits are produced, without retouching, maintaining their regularity of lines and delicacy of features" (Journal de Bruxelles, 24.6.1866). Delabarre collaborated with Emile Robert, "inventeur of photo-colour", on commercialising the latter's process at this address in 1867 (see entry for Robert).
Delabarre was at no. 18 (= Place de la Monnaie) in 1874-1875. President of the "Mutuelle photographique belge" in 1875. A fire reportedly destroyed his studio in July 1878 (L'Indépendance Belge, 17.7.1878). Founder member of the ABP ("De Labarre"). His death was certified by Victor Froment.
