° 12.5.1850 (or 1849 according to the population censuses). Unmarried, he arrived at this address from Geneva [CH], on 4.9.1863.  According to an obituary in the Bulletin de l’ABP, François Deron (1819-1876) had an only son who predeceased him.  François junior could therefore not have been Deron’s son, but most probably his nephew. Partnership with Léon Evely at this address, 1883-1887. A fire destroyed the studio on 31.10.1897: "The fire, which started in the studio situated in the attic at the end of the courtyard, spread with shocking speed to the whole studio" (La Réforme, 1.11.1897). Another report decribed the fire as being "on the premises of Mr Joseph Derom, the photographer" (Le Vingtième Siècle, 1.11.1897). Deron estimated the fire and water damage at around 15 000 francs and must have given up photography soon afterwards.
