Jules François Léopold, ° 11.1.1874; + 23.1.1929. Recorded as a photographer domiciled in Brussels - Schaerbeek at his wedding in Ostend on 9.9.1897 to Anna Van de Cruys (° Antwerp, 11.6.1867), elder sister of Victor Van de Cruys [q.v.]. He lived in Constantinople [Turkey] from 1899 to March 1901 but family tradition that Duhameeuw worked as a court photographer to Sultan Abdul Hamid II cannot be substantiated. Operated in Ostend throughout the 1920s until his death. Also see entry for Duhameeuw, J., Van de Cruys, A. & Co. for a short-lived activity in Dendermonde.
