° 28.4.1849; + 30.4.1937. A gravure printer who invented a photo-engraving process around 1880 for which he never applied for a patent. The process was particularly suitable for work in line. Evely was thus one of the main printers of Félicien Rops' engravings, collaborating intensively in the 1880s, notably on the series "Les Sataniques". Rops remunerated Evely in the form of sketches, drawings and etchings. A set of nearly fifty letters from Rops to Evely is held in the "Cabinet des Estampes" of the "Bibliothèque royale de Belgique" and has been published online at www.ropslettres.be

Evely was domiciled at this address from 5.10.1881 until 6.12.1893 and registered as a civil servant. Partnership with François Deron Fils from 1883 until 1887. He produced a series of prints by his process after Odilon Redon, inspired by Baudelaire's "Fleurs du Mal", 1890.

In the ABP membership lists, he was recorded at Rue des Comédiens, 65 until 1906 and from 1907 to 1913 he was described as the technical director of telegraphy, Post and Telegraph Office, Place de la Monnaie. Knight of the Order of Leopold.
