Léon Jean Baptiste André, ° 8.11.1855; + 14.7.1927. Engineer. Second prize winner in the amateur category of an aeronautical photography competition organised by the "Aero Club d'Anvers", the results of which were displayed in the Hotel Legrelle until 2.2.1910 (Le Matin, 31.1.1910). Autochromist by 1913. Still a member of the ABP in 1922. One of his obituaries includes the following statement: "In aviation, Léon Gérard was, along with commander de Laminne, Verschaeve and lieutenant Nélis, one of the promoters of aerial photography, which was to provide so many services to the armed forces during the war" (La Nation Belge, 15.7.1927).
