Alexandre Joseph, ┬░ 29.1.1840; + 4.3.1902. Brother of Fran├žois Gilles (see that name). In December 1877 he took over the studio and negatives of Edouard Josz. "Gilles C." in the directories from 1878 to 1890.

Successor: Gilles & Debry
"Gilles C." in the directories from 1891 to 1895. From 1896 until 1906, the Mertens directory mentions A. Gilles. "Instant, artistic, industrial, and commercial photography [...] Lessons in photography. Supplies for amateurs". The studio appears to have continued trading under Alexandre's name for several years after his death, presumably under the auspices of his son.
