Vincent Bruno François Goethals, ° 12.4.1797; + 11.8.1881. Textile manufacturer and town councillor. Husband of Eugénie Danneel (1801 - 1897) and father of Albéric Goethals (see that name). At least one stereoscopic photograph previously attributed to his son Albéric can be attributed to him. The photograph shows Vincent Goethals operating a stereoscopic camera in a reflective sphere. Many early stereoscopic photographs, bearing a blind stamp with Albéric's name, also bear an ink stamp "GD" (possibly for Goethals - Danneel) set in an oval.
