Robert Benedict, ° 4.5.1877; + 28.5.1935. Doctor of chemistry, a polymath who made advances in aviation and wireless telegraphy. Goldschmidt proposed the idea of a standardised microfiche and described the vast potential of microfilm in a brochure co-authored with Paul Otlet, "Sur une forme nouvelle du livre" (Brussels, Institut international de bibliographie, 1906), based on their presentation given at the "Congrès international de la documentation photographique" in Marseille on 19.10.1906. Still a member of the ABP in 1922.
