Print dealers. Branch of the longstanding Paris firm, set up with ambitious aims. "The firm of Goupil & Cie, of Paris, has just succeeded Mr Van der Kolk for the sale of prints, paintings and drawing materials. [...] Goupil wishes to establish in Belgium a publishing house similar to the one in France, and entrust to engravers trained in the government school with the care of copying the most remarkable works of Belgian painters ..." (L'Indépendance Belge, 11.12.1863). The role of the Brussels branch in marketing and disseminating photographic images was not specifically mentioned.
