Ernest Victor Louis Irma, ° 7.10.1889; + 8.3.1932. Photographer and film-maker. Son of Louis Gourdinne and Juliette Amélie Jeanne (see those names). Gourdinne was a precocious photographer and prizewinner in a photography competition held at the Liège International Exhibition in 1905. His mother ran her business at this address, so it is reasonable to assume that he was operating in some form of partnership with her. Gourdinne was an equally precocious cinematographer, commissioned by a pair of big-game hunters in 1909 to accompany them on an African safari. "Mr Gourdinne has gone along simply to make films amongst the wild animals. It seems he has had great success and we will soon be viewing amazing scenes of lion hunting projected onto a screen" (L'Avenir du Luxembourg, 17.5.1909). Photo-reportages and documentary films taken in the Congo during the period 1917 to 1919. Still active at this address in the 1920s and member of the ABP in 1922. His family firm ceased trading at the end of 1928.
