Predecessor: Günther Guillaume
° 23.7.1860. Arrived from Bonn on 3.3.1877. Seems to have started as an operator at the Dupont studio, which he represented at the Brussels exhibition in 1875. "Photographer to H.R.H. the Countess of Flanders". He was assisted by Marie-Catherine Günther (° 2.4.1852), who arrived from Bonn on 19.5.1880. She lived in Brussels - Ixelles from 21.1.1882 until 18.11.1886, where she married, then left on 4.9.1894. Portraits of Prince Baudouin and views at his funeral in 1891. Portrait of Princess Henriette de Vendôme. Member of the ABP from 13.7.1875 ("Gunther, photographer, in Brussels") although, given his extreme youth, initial membership was quite possibly in the person of Guillaume Günther until the latter's death in 1879. Not a member of the ABP from 1879 until 1891. Partnership "J. & C. Günther" listed at this address in the 1914 directory, then A. Günther from 1921 to 1930.
1911 - 1914 Bruxelles - Schaerbeek, Rue Quinaux, 31
Initial "J." in the directories.
