1847 La Haye [NL]
Elisabeth Vandenplas, also known as Madame Guyard, had two illegitimate sons: Edouard Ladislas Hyppolite (° Vilvorde, 28.4.1828; + Paris [F], 15.11.1870) and Jean Guillaume Léon (° Brussels - Saint-Josse, 11.10.1829). They were members of the family, headed by their step-father Jean Guyard, who criss-crossed The Netherlands as itinerant Daguerreotypists in the 1840s. It is uncertain when and to what extent the sons acted independently of their parents. "Guyard Fils" was recorded in The Hague [NL] in 1847 but we have no further identification.
1849 - 1850 Leeuwarden [NL]
"Guyard Fils" was recorded here in August, September and October 1849 and April and May 1850. One source states "L.E. Guyard" in August 1850, pointing to Eduardus Ladislas (or Ludiscus) rather than Léon. It is unlikely that the two sons subsequently pursued a career in photography and they reverted to their mother's surname. Jean Guillaume Léon Vanderplas [sic] was recorded as an artist-painter aged 22 at his wedding in Orléans [F] on 15.6.1852. Edouard Ladislas Hyppolite Vandenplas was recorded as a clerk living in Paris [F] at his wedding there on 18.8.1860 and again on his death certificate.
