Léon Achille Émile, ° 3.9.1873; + 13.10.1968. Student in 1895. Doctor of medicine and pharmacology. Subsequently lecturer and then, from 1911, professor at the "Université libre de Bruxelles", and finally dean of the faculty of medicine, 1931-1933. Took the photomicrographs reproduced in collotype in the study by his father Achille Herlant, "Micrographie des poudres officinales", Brussels, 1896. Autochromist from at least May 1910. Exhibited autochromes (interiors and flowers) to fellow members of the ABP in March 1914. Not a member of the ABP from 1901 to end of 1907. Subsequently a member until at least 1922.
