Jacobs moved here (no. 18) with his family on 30.11.1887. At that time, Bernard was still recorded as a woodturner in the population register, while his daughter Anna Ludovica (° Ghent, 2.10.1865; + Ghent - Sint-Amandsberg, 29.9.1946) was recorded as a photographer. By 1891, Bernard was recorded as a photographer and his daughter as a retoucher. His son Jacques Jacobs (see that name) lived here until 7.5.1895 and was also recorded as a photographer at the occasion of his wedding in October 1894. Furthermore, Octave De Geyter (see that name) was recorded as a photographer’s apprentice here from 1892 to 1894. De Geyter was a son of Bernard's first wife's sister. "& Cie" appears as early as June 1888 (De Dendergalm, 17.6.1888). "Photographers of the town of Ghent".
Bernard witnessed the death certificate of fellow photographer Louis De Laetre on 20.12.1897 when he was recorded as a photographer aged 59 living at this address. Also listed under photographic supplies in the 1890s. After Bernard's death, his daughter Anna married Adolphe Tessens (see that name) in Ghent on 28.12.1907. The groom was recorded as a photographer. The couple officially moved to this address on 19.2.1908, but Jacobs' name was still listed here until 1909, which might imply that they continued using his name for some time.
