Louis Constantin, ° 25.3.1797; + 5.11.1877. Painter and graphic artist. From 1839 he was an arboriculturist and ran a rural estate near Bruges. Collaboration with Guillaume Claine (see that name) with whom he took, most notably, views of Brussels and Laeken in 1849. From 1848 onwards he made combination prints, introducing clouds, objects, and human figures into his landscapes. Views for the photographic missions commissioned from Claine. Jacopssen displayed, jointly with Claine, eight prints at the "Exposition générale des beaux-arts" in Brussels in 1851, the only photographs to feature in that exhibition; they were described as "heliographic drawings".
