° 10.2.1818; + 28.11.1895. Naval officer. Member of the "Société Française de Photographie" from 1865, administrator from 1866. In June 1867 he accompanied the author and critic Théophile Gautier (1811 - 1872) on a cruise along the Meuse from Charleville to Namur. His photographs of the Meuse valley, in particular the ruins of Poilvache castle in Houx, were subsequently reproduced as wood engravings to illustrate the work "Les Ardennes illustrées", Louis Hachette & Cie, 1868 and following years, 4 volumes.
