At the corner of Rue Sainte-Aldegonde. Bathelemy Charles, ° 14.3.1819; + 25.12.1891. Porcelain and glass merchant from 1860 in association with his younger brother Jacques Adolphe, trading as "Jonniaux Frères". Sales of photographic material from 1870 ca. Invented a gelatine-bromide emulsion process in 1882. Agency for Kodak ("C.B. Jonniaux & Frères") in 1890. Founder member of the ABP, when Charles was described as a "manufacturer of chemicals". The Jonniaux company was wound up at the end of 1895, whereby Moreau Frères took over the porcelain and glassware side. His nephew (son of brother Jacques Adolphe), also named Charles, was an ABP member from 1908 until 1914.
