César Félix (° Trieste [Austro-Hungary now IT], 1834) first appeared in the foreigners' register in 1858. Described as an artisan engraver ("mécanicien graveur") living in Paris [F] when he applied for a French patent for an embossing stamp, in partnership with his engraver father, on 17.5.1864. "Collotype, printing on metal and on celluloid" [Rozez, 1893]. "Photography on aluminium, on metal-enamel, on imitation ivory, on satin, etc. (patented processes)" [Rozez, 1896]. "& Cie" at this address.
Patent [C.-F. Josz] of 15.7.1893 for "a photo-metal-enamel and photo-ivory-enamel or novel process for obtaining photographic prints on any metals, ivories, celluloid, wood, fabrics or any other substances"; patent of 25.2.1895 for "an apparatus named: litho-metallograph with the purpose of obtaining, using lithotype and collotype hand presses, monochrome and colour printing on metal plates and other similar surfaces". On the occasion of his wedding in Brussels - Anderlecht on 27.7.1898, the son, Ernest Robert (° Paris [F], 10.1.1870) is recorded as an industrialist living at this address, his father also as an industrialist living in Brussels - Molenbeek, presumably at the same address.
