° 4.1.1852; + 21.7.1924. Often "Join" in official documents. Fairground photographer, offering ferrotypes. Ink stamp, "Patent for invention / caricature a speciality". Arrived in Belgium in 1873. At his first wedding in Alost on 10.7.1879, recorded as a photographer aged 27 living in Ghent with his parents. His father, also Jean Félix (° Amsterdam [NL], 24.11.1825; + Antwerp, 5.6.1886), was likewise recorded as a photographer. CV of early 1880s with ink stamp "J.F. Jouin / Photographer" and no place name. At his second wedding in Ghent on 26.6.1888, his profession was again recorded as photographer.

Arrived at this address, "on the fairground", on 12.8.1893. Jouin was recorded as a photographer coming from Ghent, Rue de la Caserne, 165. At his daughter's wedding in Liège on 31.12.1904, he was recorded as a "forain" or fairground stallholder, domiciled in Ghent and currently residing in Liège. His son, also Jean Félix (° Antwerp, 16.5.1887), was recorded as a photographer domiciled in Ghent, Rue des Femmes, 104 at the occasion of his wedding in Liège on 14.12.1907. The father of the groom was recorded as a photographer domiciled in Ghent, but resident in Liège. "Photo Jouin" was still operating at fairgrounds in Belgium in 1932 (Grenz Echo, 18.6.1932).
