° 7.12.1825; + 3.8.1889. Prolific publisher of stereo views from 1863 onwards. According to Denis Pellerin, "La photographie stéréoscopique sous le second Empire" (1995), p. 107, Jouvin produced over 2000 views, of which 1400 were registered for copyright. The latter appear not to have included a "Belgium" series, absent in the extensive holdings of the Bibliothèque nationale de France. We have noted individual views of locations as diverse as Ostend, Namur and Villers-la-Ville, so it is likely that many more were taken. Presentation of the mounts points to a date of production similar to Jouvin's series "Vues d'Allemagne", registered for copyright in 1864.
