Jean Antoine Louis, ° 31.5.1846; + 21.3.1892. Recorded as a photographer on the occasion of his wedding in Bruges on 15.10.1868. Victor Daveluy was one of the witnesses. Moved to this address on 1.1.1869. CV views of Bruges. Ketels was still living here and recorded as a photographer when his son Jules (see that name) was born on 21.5.1871. He had been an operator with Daveluy when he was sentenced to "a fine of 25 francs and eight days imprisonment with costs for theft from his employer Victor Daveluy" (Gazette van Brugge, 17.9.1870).

Moved here from Rue Rouge, 33 in November 1882. Near Rue Longue there were two large barracks which provided Ketels with a good percentage of his customers. Moved to Ostend on 12.5.1888.

Recorded as a photographer aged 46 resident in Ostend in June 1889 and in November 1891, no street address indicated. Ketels' death certificate recorded his death in Bruges, in a psychiatric institution, the Sint-Domenicusgesticht, Rue des Jacobins, though he was still resident in Ostend. Ketels' two sons Jules and Charles followed in their father's footsteps and became professional photographers.
