Marie Frédéric Thomas Achille, ° 29.9.1860; + 25.7.1941. Industrialist. Member of the "Photoclub de Louvain". Sometimes transcribed "Knappen" or even "Knaap". Pioneered the application of hygrometry to the renovation of historic buildings. As such, Knapen became known as the "stone doctor" (La Croix, 6.10.1941). His techniques were used to dry out and consolidate Foreign Ministry buildings following the Paris floods of 1910.
