He left for Chapelle-lez-Herlaimont in 1908. Shortly afterwards he emigrated to Chile for 11 years and photographed building work for the Chilean Ministry of Public Works. He returned to Belgium around 1920 and opened a studio in Charleroi, Avenue des Alliés, 17. Later in the 1920s worked out of Rue de Dampremy, 19 where he styled himself "ex-director of the section for photography and cartography of the Chilean Ministry of Public Works, Santiago and specialist in industrial photography of interiors".
