Albert Marie Denis Jean Baptiste, ° 20.8.1873; + 2.4.1910. Officer in the "Force publique congolaise". Left for the Congo on 6.2.1894. Arrived in Luluabourg on 11.7.1894 and was appointed head of the advance station at Mukabwa. Ethnographic photographs as well as records of colonial and missionary life. Lapière's three years in the "Force publique congolaise" were particularly tumultuous, including a military revolt in Luluabourg - Malandji and a peace-enforcement expedition into Katanga. He temporarily returned to Belgium in 1897 before pursuing a commercial career back in the Congo.
