The Leenaerts brothers were Brussels natives who spent the whole of their long photographic careers in Toulon [Var, F]. Alphonse (° Brussels, 6.10.1844; + Toulon [F], 5.10.1927) and Henri (° Brussels, 3.1.1847; + Toulon [F], 24.9.1928) both gave their occupation as photographer when marrying in Toulon in 1872 and 1871 respectively. Henri was a studio operator for "Eugène de Paris", i.e. Desplanques (see that name) before succeeding in Rue Molière, 14 while Alphonse opened his own studio in Boulevard du Strasbourg, 46 in about 1880 before moving to Place d'Armes, 16 in about 1903.
