Activity
1882 * - 1884 / Tournai, Rue As Poids, 54
Predecessor: Froment Victor
Isidore Antoine, ° 25.3.1857; + 1.2.1940. Recorded as a clerk on the occasion of his wedding to Anna Narcisse Adolphine Arissé (° Seneffe, 10.8.1863) in Tournai on 3.8.1882. Emile Quéquin was a witness and, based on the similarity of their respective CV backmarks, it is possible that Legrand acquired his photographic skills in Quéquin's studio. On CV mounts, initials "S" or "J" or "I", seemingly interchangeably. Street number 45 listed erroneously in directory. "Former studio Froment, artistic photography Legrand-Arissé, 54, rue aux[sic] Poids, Tournai. My predecessor’s negatives are preserved, we operate in all weathers. Moderate prices" (Le Courrier de l'Escaut, 18.11.1882). Final advertisement appeared on 22.1.1884. Later that year, the building was put up for sale or rent "with a magnificent photography studio" (Le Courrier de l'Escaut, 12.10.1884). On the occasion of his divorce in Brussels in November 1890, Legrand was recorded as a commercial traveller.
1883 Leuze, Hôtel de la Toison d'Or
Operating on Mondays, "on the premises of Mr Wadmaut" (Le Courrier de l'Escaut, 17.6.1883).
