Activity
1849 Mons, Rue du Miroir, 6
° 13.3.1825. Daguerreotypist and engineer. According to an advertising label he was a pupil of Daguerre. He claimed to be "renowned for his fine daguerreotype portraits" (Gazette de Mons, 9.12.1849). He also undertook the repair of surveying, optical, physics and mathematical instruments.
1850 */ Mons, Rue de Nimy, 26
"On the premises of Mr Hoyais, printer and bookseller [...] Portraits at 5 and 10 francs" [Hoyois in the population registry] (Gazette de Mons, 4 and 8.7.1850).
1850 - 1855 Mons, Grand Place, 12<50> or 29<54-55>
No. 12 was apparently a café and is mentioned solely in an advertisement for Rue de Nimy as Leullier’s former address. He was domiciled at no. 29 from an unspecified date until 26.2.1859 when he left Mons. An undated daguerreotype exists on which no. 12 is overprinted by 29: there can be no label for Rue de Nimy, where his stay must have been very short. In any case, Leullier was active in October 1854 at no. 29: an advertisement in which he described himself as an engineer-photographer stated that he was still undertaking the repair of instruments. He claimed to have been an optician in Paris for ten years and offered "daguerreotype portraits at 5, 10, 15, and 20 francs, any time in any weather " (Gazette de Mons, 16 and 20.10.1854). During December 1855 the local chronicle in the "Gazette de Mons" gave a daily temperature reading as measured by "the standard thermometer of Mr Leullier, engineer-photographer".
