Albert Adrien Clément, ° 28.5.1859; + 31.8.1915. Captain-commander, rising to major-general in the artillery. Member of the "Cercle photographique d'Ixelles". No longer a member in 1906. Aide de camp to King Albert I, 1910-1914. Maes was a highly decorated soldier, in command of the defenses of Antwerp at the outbreak of World War I. Taken prisoner of war when Antwerp fell in October 1914, he was released from captivity in Germany and repatriated to Brussels when mortally ill.
