Adolphe Alfred, ° 10.3.1853; + 3.5.1929. Captain-commander in the "Force Publique". First arrived in Congo in 1895. After his return to Belgium, appointed director for public works in the colonial administration. Mahieu inaugurated the "Musée Commercial et Colonial de Namur" in 1913. Vice-president of the "Société archéologique de Namur". The Photography Museum in Antwerp owns glass-plate negatives by Mahieu as part of the "Union Coloniale Belge" collection.
