Predecessor: Kriegsmann Otto
Philémon / Philomon, ° 14.12.1860. Makeeff and his family arrived at this address from Locle [CH] in late July 1910. The family included two sons Eugène / Eugeen (° Smielo-Kiev [RUS], 1886) and Vladimir / Wladimir (° Locle [CH], 14.5.1893; + ?, 1939). Philémon Makeeff, of Russian origin and naturalised Swiss in 1897, operated in Chaux-de-Fonds [CH] in 1900 and in Locle [CH] from 1899 to 1924, followed by Wladimir until 1939. While Philémon was recorded as a photographer at this address, card mounts "& Fils" confirm that one or other of the sons also operated here during this period. Address only listed in the directory in 1914; however, Makeeff was still operating here in the immediate post World War I period in partnership with a son.
