On the occasion of his wedding on 12.5.1886, he was described as a manufacturer living in Brussels - Molenbeek. This probably refers to his father's firm manufacturing printing inks. Witness at his brother Alfred's wedding on 23.11.1895, he was recorded as a commercial clerk domiciled in Brussels. When the much expanded family firm "Établissements Jean Malvaux" was converted into a joint-stock company on 14.7.1899, André was appointed managing director. Witness at his brother Eugène's wedding on 21.4.1900, he was recorded as a photoengraver domiciled in Brussels.
