Itinerant daguerreotypists. "Operators and correspondants for the Bourquin firm of Paris... Practical lessons... Sale of cameras and everything related to photography" (Journal de Louvain, 22.12.1844). "Visits at home. Prices from 10 francs. Work exhibited at the 'Société de l'Académie de Musique' and in Meunier’s bookshop, Grand Place, 17" (Journal des Petites Affiches, 12, 19, 26.1.1845 and 2.2.1845). "The prints by these two young artists, so vigorous, are of such finish and likeness that they are driving to despair the brush and pencil of our best artists" (Journal de Louvain, 29.12.1844).

"Messrs Marcelin and Alexandre inform persons who have to have their daguerreotype portraits taken that they are only in Louvain for 6 more days" (Journal de Louvain, 13.4.1845). Two months later, daguerreotype portraits were again being advertised on Meunier's premises, this time anonymously: "1/2 plate 12 francs; 1/4 plate 8 francs; 1/6 plate 6 francs" (Journal de Louvain, 15.6.1845).
