Activity
1854 Namur, Rue des Fossés, 933
° 6.8.1810. Dentist at this address from the early 1850s. The "Commission médicale de la Province de Liège" had issued an advisory relating to Marcq, who had qualified as a dentist in Mons in 1844, for falsely claiming in advertisements to be a doctor and surgeon (Gazette médicale belge, 14.1.1849). It is unclear whether photography was practised here. The address remained his wife's domicile after his move to Charleroi and until at least 1857.
1854 Charleroi, Rue de Dampremy, 44
Officially moved here from Namur on 1.9.1854. "Mr Marcq, surgeon-dentist-mechanic, may be consulted at his residence, rue de Dampremy, near the bath house, in Charleroi.[...] At the same establishment, portraits are taken by Daguerreotype, and photography double width, on glass and on paper, by a patented process, resemblance guaranteed" (Journal de Charleroi, 12.6.1854 & 19.7.1854). Still Marcq's domicile in 1857 when his wife was offering appointments here as a "qualified dentist" in her own right (Journal de Charleroi, 7.8.1857). By early 1858 Marcq was no longer living here on a permanent basis but "continued to visit on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays" (Journal de Charleroi, 27.1.1858). Marcq transferred his domicile back to Namur on 18.2.1861. No further evidence of photography at this address seems to have been recorded.
