Julien Marrecau, "the best photographer in the fair", made ferrotypes around 1900. Concurrently operated a panorama measuring twenty by six metres. In the Ghent Christmas fair of 1900, he presented moving pictures under the trade name "Le Palais des Cinématographes Electriques" and between 1901 to 1907 projected films in Lille and throughout Northern France as far afield as Le Havre and Rouen.
Also see entries for his son Henri and son-in-law Leo De Bruyne - Marrecau, all concurrently operating from this address initially as itinerant photographers and then as cinema operators. At this address, "J. Marrecau - Cremer, patented photographer". Thereafter, continued as a fairground photographer; into the 1920s, postcard-sized prints signed "Marrecau" with no first name, "Photo en foire".
