Jules Lambert, ° 16.4.1850; + 18.10.1917. Cloth merchant. A founder member of the ABP, he invented a portable darkroom in 1878. On the verso of CAB mounts, printed in his own name, c. 1886, Martiny added advertising for his business: "Fabric by the ell ["aunages"]. Speciality of white and blue linen. Novelties - Merinos".
Martiny subsequently took snapshots, urban views and local events using Français’ kinégraphe with a long-focus lens (camera manufactured from 1890). He took a set of images recording Prince Baudouin's visit to Liège in August 1890, including "the Prince on horseback during the procession by the civic guard on Place Saint-Lambert" (La Meuse, 4.8.1890). Author of a standard work "Histoire du théâtre de Liège depuis son origine à nos jours", Liège, 1887. Member of the "Société de langue et de littérature wallonnes". Martiny's death certificate described him as a person of independent means.
