Charles Julien, ° 29.12.1853; + 17.9.1908. Originally operated in Bayeux [Calvados, F], Rue du Marché, 18 from 1881 to March 1883. Subsequently Masse was active in Nice [Alpes-Maritimes, F] from 1884 to 1886, at Rue Adelaide, 19 then Avenue de la Gare, 31, followed by Lille [Nord, F], Rue des Tanneurs, 25, in the early to mid-1890s.
Started in Belgium as an intinerant in Furnes, initially operating in March 1895 in the café "In de Ham", on the premises of Désiré Vanderstraete. "Photography at home for all orders of a dozen or equivalent" (De Veurnaar, 27.3.1895). Masse advertised his move to the above address, on the premises of P. Vanden Kerckhove, on 18.5.1895 and announced his return to Furnes, occupying the same premises, on 10.8.1895.
