1907 - 1914 > Louvain, Rue de la Station, 24 or 26
Predecessor: Meeus - Verbeke Jean-François
Studio owned and run by Henri Louckx (° Leuven, 12.5.1889), son of Polydore Louckx (see that name). In February 1908 it was announced that the Verbeke - Schodts studio had moved to this address (Le Solfatare, 4.2.1908); this suggests a merge of the two studios. By February 1911, the firm was advertising as "former firm Verbeke - Schodts", of which it had acquired the negatives (De Wijngaard, 1.2.1911). On CVs, "F. Meeus - Verbeke". On the occasion of his wedding on 10.9.1912, François Emile Charles Verbeke (° Louvain, 22.11.1885) was recorded as a photographer resident in Louvain. "Enlargements a speciality. Exclusive holder of negatives from the former firm of Verbeke - Schodts" [Monod, 1913]. The extensive stock that he acquired was probably destroyed in the First World War. The street was renamed "Avenue des Alliés" soon after the war. "Maison Meeus - Verbeke" was still advertising here (Avenue des Alliés) in November 1920 (L'Avant Garde, 20.11.1920).
