His partnership with Baron had ended by March 1863, when Mitkiewicz announced that the establishment had become his exclusive property (L'Indépendance Belge, 3.3.1863). On CVs "& Cie" is added from August 1865. A receipt dated 6.7.1866 is signed by "Gustave", who was also employed by Mitkiewicz at no. 29. Mitkiewicz was reported as having severed all connection with the studio at this address by December 1866: "He will very soon open a new establishment of the same type" (Journal de Bruxelles, 14.12.1866).

Predecessor: Tufferau William or Dumonthier # Successor: Gaillard François
Domiciled at this address on 31.12.1866. The studios at Rue de la Montagne, 51 and Rue Neuve, 29 seem to have coexisted for a short period. He married daguerreotypist and print publisher Pierre Cremetti’s daughter Josephine on 5.9.1867. She moved to Rue de la Montagne, 51 on 16.12.1867, the day, according to the population registry, that Mitkiewicz left for Paris. He was domiciled in Montagne aux Herbes Potagères, 9 (at his father-in-law’s) on 25.6.1868. No photographs of Mitkiewicz are known crediting Montagne aux Herbes Potagères.
