His partnership with Baron had ended by March 1863, when Mitkiewicz announced that the establishment had become his exclusive property (L'Indépendance Belge, 3.3.1863). On CVs "& Cie" is added from August 1865. A receipt dated 6.7.1866 is signed by "Gustave", who was also employed by Mitkiewicz at no. 29. Mitkiewicz was reported as having severed all connection with the studio at this address by December 1866: "He will very soon open a new establishment of the same type" (Journal de Bruxelles, 14.12.1866).

Domiciled at this address on 31.12.1866. The studios at Rue de la Montagne, 51 and Rue Neuve, 29 seem to have coexisted for a short period. He married daguerreotypist and print publisher Pierre Cremetti’s daughter Josephine on 5.9.1867. She moved to Rue de la Montagne, 51 on 16.12.1867, the day, according to the population registry, that Mitkiewicz left for Paris. He was domiciled in Montagne aux Herbes Potagères, 9 (at his father-in-law’s) on 25.6.1868. No photographs of Mitkiewicz are known crediting Montagne aux Herbes Potagères.

Some CVs state "Gustave, photographer representing the César Mitkiewicz studio". On the CV: "Not to be confused with my previous address, Rue Neuve, 9". He left for Liège on 6.4.1870 but is not known to have operated there.
