In 1842, “Née-Sandoz", optician; note that there was a daguerreotypist called Sandoz. “Makes daguerreotype portraits by a new process, sells first choice entire cameras, plates guaranteed in any size [...] and all substances relating to the daguerreotype" (L'lndépendance belge, 30.12.1844, passim until 9.4.1846). In 1846, Louis Née advertised "Agency for the firm of Bourquin in Paris, which only stocks items for the daguerreotype" (Le Globe, 12.3.1846).

“Mansion of the 1000 pillars”. At this address, addition of "& Cie“. Photographer and daguerreotypist. However, no advertisements of his for photography have been located after 1846, and his advertising cards do not include this activity. In 1857, the following advertisement appeared: “Assortment of stereoscopes. For hire at 5 francs per evening with thirty pictures" (L‘Echo de Bruxelles, 5.12.1857 passim until 25.12.1857). He is only listed in the 1859-1860 Tarlier directory under the heading “optician". His widow, Anne Assys (° Paris [F]), continued running the optics side of the business until 1873.
