Probably an operator-manager for Gecele at this address by the end of the 1870s. Took the earliest forensic photographs in Belgium, including "View of the room in which the body of Mr Bernays, the lawyer, was found on 18 January 1882". This was the murder scene which led to the famous trial known as the Peltzer case. During this period Nestler lived at several private addresses, then left for Brussels - Schaerbeek on 24.6.1885.

Arrived at this address with his family on 16.7.1892; his daughter Anna "Marguerite" Nestler (° Brussels, 19.5.1874; + Brussels - Ixelles, 17.9.1958) was initially recorded as a labouring photographer and subsequently as a governess. Nestler was still active as a forensic photographer: "A man feared by criminals, whose tracks he helps to uncover, for he has been the photographer to the public prosecutor's office for 27 [sic, for 17?] years. Nestler represents science in the service of justice. ...Mr Nestler is a staunch supporter of Bertillon's anthropometric system" (Le Petit bleu du matin, 6.8.1895). Nestler left for Brussels - Schaerbeek on 12.6.1897 and simultaneously declared Rue Neuve, 28 as his second residence. Recorded as a photographer resident in Brussels - Schaerbeek, Rue Dupont, 1B on his death certificate.
